Soirée 2025: “Field Notes”
Kai Hill and I are excited to share that we secured a storefront for this year's soirée in downtown Durham! We hope to synchronize rather than compete with all the other markets and activities around town this time of year.
Kai and I are both committed note-takers. We strive always to produce sleek, detailed, and well-rounded finished pieces for our community, but want to show you the world of deep dives, half-baked thoughts, big ideas and false starts that inform the treasures that you get to bring home. For most of what we make, we don’t simply have an image of the finished piece pop into our head out of the ether. There’s known and unknown pieces of inspiration, from observing the art of others and thinking about technique to seeing pollen swirl on the surface of a puddle, which shuffle and collide in our minds and sketchbooks to lead us towards what we ultimately create.
We've got all kinds of ideas for enlivening the space and filling it with work. You will just have to show up in order to see where we land! The event includes a raffle, and delicious snacks. Come dapperly dressed, and bring your friends!

Parking is available in the Chapel Hill St parking deck across from the downtown Durham Post Office building as well as in the Morgan Rigsbee parking garage.
The building is wheelchair accessible.
